The physicians at the Center of Integrative Medicine believe in treating the whole person…..the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of each person. Our practice of medicine is as concerned with enhancing wellness as it is with treating disease. We have a great appreciation of the benefits of surgery and medication, but we also work with the patient to develop complementary or alternative approaches whenever possible that target the causes of disease rather than just the symptoms of disease.
Our belief of health care is one which fosters a cooperative relationship among all those involved, leading towards optimal attainment of the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of health.
It emphasizes the need to look at the whole person, including analysis of physical, nutritional, environmental, emotional, social, spiritual and lifestyle values. It encompasses all stated modalities of diagnosis and treatment including drugs and surgery if no safe alternative exists. We believe in focusing on education and responsibility for personal efforts to achieve balance and well being.

Description of Medical Disciplines:
Integrative:
Integrative Medicine take into account factors that influence health, wellness, and disease including mind, spirit, and community, as well as the body and believes that appropriate use of both conventional and alternative methods facilitates the body’s innate healing response. Integrative Medicine Physicians believe that effective interventions that are natural and less invasive should be used whenever possible and neither rejects conventional medicine nor accepts alternative therapies uncritically.
Osteopathic:
Osteopathic Medicine brings a unique philosophy to traditional medicine. With a strong emphasis on the inter-relationship of the body’s nerves, muscles, bones and organs, doctors of osteopathic medicine, or D.O.s, apply the philosophy of treating the whole person to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, disease and injury.
Naturopathic:
Naturopathic medicine is based on the belief that the human body has an innate healing ability. Naturopathic doctors (NDs) teach their patients to use diet, exercise, lifestyle changes and cutting edge natural therapies to enhance their bodies’ ability to ward off and combat disease. NDs view the patient as a complex, interrelated system (a whole person), not as a clogged artery or a tumor. Naturopathic physicians craft comprehensive treatment plans that blend the best of modern medical science and traditional natural medical approaches to not only treat disease, but to also restore health.
Ayurvedic:Ayurvedic medicine, also called Ayurveda, originated in India several thousand years ago. The term "Ayurveda" combines the Sanskrit words ayur (life) and veda (science or knowledge). Thus, Ayurveda means "the science of life."Ayurvedic medicine aims to integrate and balance the body, mind, and spirit; thus, some view it as "holistic." This balance is believed to lead to happiness and health, and to help prevent illness. Ayurvedic medicine also treats specific physical and mental health problems. A chief aim of Ayurvedic practice is to cleanse the body of substances that can cause disease, thus helping to reestablish harmony and balance.
